Big Fridays 2025 – Let’s Pray!

Big Fridays are back and they’re bigger, better, and bolder than ever! Across three massive Friday nights – August 15, 22 & 29 – youth from Years 6–12 will gather at church to hang out, have fun, and most importantly, hear the life-changing news of Jesus. Jesse, Rach Hamilton and the youth team have been working on this for months and it all culminates this Friday. 

The theme this year is “Crowned”, and I am excited that Ben Williams, one of our student ministers, is our speaker. Ben will be opening Mark’s Gospel and showing our young people what it means for Jesus to be the true King – and how we can live with Him as our Lord. 

Now there is a lot of hype around Big Fridays and if you are on the youth socials you will have seen it but these Fridays aren’t just a youth social event; they are an incredible gospel opportunity where teenagers invite their friends to hear God’s Word, and we are praying that some will decide to start following Jesus for the first time.

Each night kicks off with food, music, fire pits, games, and the buzz of relationships. Regulars pay $5 at the door (guests are free), and every youth gets dinner, drinks, dessert and more. Special guests will join us too: Ruby from Take Love in Week 2 and Steve from Year 13 in Week 3. Inside the auditorium the young people will worship together, hear inspiring testimonies, pray, and dive deep into the Bible.

So, why am I telling you all this? It’s not to make you jealous or to make you wish you were 16 again. I am telling you this because we need your prayers. Big Fridays have always been a moment where God works in remarkable ways, but we want to pray that he would do even more this year. Our big prayer is that 1,000 youth would be hearing the gospel each week across our youth ministry – and on these Big Fridays specifically, we are praying for 400+ each night with 20% of newcomers joining our regular youth gatherings.

So, will you come and join us in prayer? We’re gathering for dedicated Big Fridays Prayer in Lower Hall 1 from 7.30–8.30pm every Friday night while it’s on. We’ll pray through Mark’s Gospel, asking God to use His Word powerfully in the lives of the youth who come.

Come and join us! If you can’t come to church at 7.30pm on each of the Fridays, please pray at home. Pray for courage for our youth to invite friends. Pray for open hearts to receive the gospel. Pray for Ben as he preaches. We would love you to pray that God would be at work, that the gospel would be known, that hearts would be changed and that Jesus would be glorified.

Let’s pray that God would do more than we could ask or imagine through Big Fridays 2025.
