Director of Operations
Christ Church St Ives is seeking a Director of Operations who will champion strong administrative and operations support for staff and governors, helping to ensure strategic ministry outcomes can be achieved. The role is fulltime and ideal for a leader who thrives on turning vision into reality through operational excellence, possesses strong execution instincts, and is energised by building high-performing teams and efficient sustainable systems.

Christ Church St Ives is a medium-sized church with a vision to build 3000 wholehearted disciples of Jesus. In a complex world where compliance and efficiency both matter, this role will drive and directly contribute to the operational effectiveness of our church. Working closely with the Senior Minister and key lay leaders, the Director will ensure that our ministry vision is supported and driven by effective, efficient, and future-focused operations.

The Director of Operations will:
Lead, empower and directly contribute to effective and efficient operations that enable the execution of our vision.We expect the Director to be engaged in delivering excellent systems, processes and support that anticipates needs, removes barriers, and enables ministry staff and volunteers to thrive in gospel work.
Provide strong governance leadership by partnering with the Senior Minister, Wardens and Parish Council to ensure full compliance with all statutory, regulatory and diocesan obligations.
Model servant leadership by contributing to a culture of trust, initiative, and innovation. As a senior leader, the Director sets the tone for operational excellence, spiritual maturity, and proactive problem-solving across all areas of church life.
About you
We are looking for someone who has:
evidence of a commitment to following Jesus, with active involvement in a local congregation.
a deep personal commitment to the gospel and the vision of Christ Church St Ives, along with a collaborative, servant-hearted approach to leadership.
an ability to work well with a diverse, multi-disciplinary staff team
experience as a leader in operational management, planning, and team leadership, preferably but not necessarily within a church, not-for-profit, or values-driven organisation.
experience in governance support, compliance, risk management, and project delivery.
studied or worked extensively in business, management, finance, or a related field.
the ability to demonstrate high-level organisational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to lead staff and volunteers with clarity and grace.
Practicalities
The position is a fulltime permanent role subject to a 6 month probationary period. Remuneration details will be negotiated with the preferred candidate and will be determined in light of the successful applicant’s experience, training and skills. Please note that we do not view this role as an entry level position.
All Staff at Christ Church St Ives must have a Safe Ministry Check including:
current Safe Ministry Training of the Anglican Diocese of Sydney, and
A current and verified New South Wales Working with Children Check (WWCC) suitable for employees.
