Who governs our church?
Following our Annual General Meeting in March and the Extraordinary General Meeting on Monday, we thought it was a good moment to let you know who governs Christ Church St Ives.
We are an Anglican Church, so the Anglican Diocese of Sydney has lots of rules and guidelines about how we have to manage our church, buildings and money, but those rules and guidelines are enacted locally by our Parish Council and Wardens. In addition to them, our Synod Representatives attend an annual governance meeting to discuss the rules, guidelines and theology of the Anglican Church and our Nominators select a new Senior Minister when required. Here is the who’s who of all these roles.
Wardens: Ross Bowden, Peter Chitty, and James Clifton
Parish Council: Sarah Abraham, Susan Beattie, Lee Ee, Gavin Gillett*, Carmen Hoeve*, Michael Hung, Lachlan Mitchell, Rani Warren-Gash
Synod Representatives: Sarah Abraham^, Anna Richardson
Nominators: Lee Carter, Janet Currer, Peter Mayrick, Robert Tong, Charlie Wye
* Gavin Gillett and Carmen Hoeve were appointed after the AGM.
^ Sarah Abraham was elected at the EGM this week.
Please pray for each of these people serving that they might do so for God’s glory and our church’s good.
