“By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word” – 1 Corinthians 15:2

At Christ Church this year we are putting mission at the forefront.

“There are heaps more things I could say about what we’re doing this year, but I just want to talk about one. Specifically one area that we want you guys to really focus in on and work hard on. And that is the area of Mission. Some friends of mine joined our church in the last year and they said to me, “I have never been part of a church that talks about mission so much.” And I said, “I know, neither have I, it’s amazing!” I tell you, I need that. I don’t know how you feel but I need that constant encouragement to be sharing the good news of Jesus with my unbelieving friends and neighbours, because I find it scary. And I find it hard. And I find it to be a very vulnerable experience… And I tell you I need your help. And I’m going to assume that, like me, many of you are the same. That many of you like me need the help of each other. And if we don’t keep Mission high on the agenda, it is going to fall off, because it is so hard. So, this year we are going to be asking the question where does our church fit into God’s mission to the ends of the earth…. that’s a personal question, you could ask it like this - given God is on a mission to save many people in St Ives and beyond, where do I fit in.” — Nigel Fortescue, Senior Minister

The reason mission is so important to us is because God puts mission at the forefront. God says:

"Every knee should bow" (Philippians 2:10) — God calls every person in every nation to honour Jesus

"So go and make disciples" (Matthew 28:19) — Jesus sends his people to make new disciples

"For Christ's love compels us" (2 Corinthians 5:14) — Reconciliation with God is the most loving thing we have to offer
