Gavin and Megan Rosser

Serving in Amman, Jordan (CMS)

Gavin and Megan, accompanied by their 2 daughters Hosanna (17) and Grace (14) started serving in the International Anglican Church of Amman in January, where Gavin has taken up the role of Minister and Megan seeks to be a light to the community as she serves.

Started 2024

  • Gavin and Megan have served in Anglican Parish ministry in Sydney for the past 15 years. They are convinced by the need for Jesus to be known all over the world and are especially moved to share Jesus in countries where there is less Christian witness.

They will be serving in the International Anglican Church of Amman (IACA), where Gavin has been invited to be their full-time ordained minister, serving and supporting local Christian workers and the large expat community there.

CMS has had a presence in Jordan since the early 1800’s and has a long history of providing Ministers for this particular Church, which has been in existence since 1836.

Christ Church is excited to be supporting this ongoing ministry in Amman and to be joining the Rossers as one of their supporting Churches as they begin their missionary journey. We enjoyed meeting them in October 2023, when they came to St Ives for deputation

  • Amman, Jordan Context

    • Population: 2.2 million

    • Faith Backgrounds:

      • Muslim 97.1% (official; predominantly Sunni)

      • Christian 2.1% (majority Greek Orthodox, but some Greek & Roman Catholics, Syrian Orthodox, Coptic Orthodox, Armenian Orthodox, and Protestant denominations)

    Opportunities

    • The key role of the International Anglican Church of Amman (IACA) is the ongoing support for Christians living in Amman - supporting Christians working with locals, in embassies and in humanitarian work. They each need support in their faith in these difficult roles where they can have a great impact for Jesus.

    • The IACA has a wide reach and has the opportunity to interact with many new people from all over the world each week - tourists, expats and locals

  • Gavin, Megan and the girls attended St Andrew's Hall Sydney for training in cross cultural ministry, from July-October 2023, and since October have been visiting their support Churches around Sydney.

Gavin and Megan (along with daughters Hosanna and Grace) landed in Amman in January. Gavin is the new minister at the International Anglican Church of Amman and Megan will seek to be the light to the community as she serves.
