Share Life Sundays – Week Two

Praise God for Share Life Week 1 and for the guests who came and the people who responded that they wanted to start following Jesus. We’re following up lots of people from last week and looking forward to lots of great chats.

So what’s coming up this week? A look at the feeling that we are never enough. That we don’t measure up. I’m going to try to unpack what happens to us when we let all that fear turn into worry and the difference Jesus makes. He came to offer peace so why don’t our lives feel peaceful? Why do we let ourselves become beset with worry?

That’s where we’re headed and here’s a sneak preview to get you intrigued and prayerful for friends you could invite!

Do you know, Jesus is not just a man but God in the flesh. God who was not content to remain absent and unknown and unseen in the world. God who stepped into our reality, embraced our life, embodied our existence and revealed himself to us. And not just in words but in actions.

God did not appear as a wind or a dog or a bird or a flower. God turned up in your flesh, to relate with you, to show his love to you and me and to call us to see the world the way it really is. That he is in charge but uses his power to love you, to care for you and to make it clear that you can really trust him.

I have a friend out of work at the moment and he is out every day meeting people, searching for a job, making connections and trusting God. He said, “I know that God may not provide what I want, but he will always provide what I need”. My friend is exemplifying Jesus' teaching - God takes care of wild animals. He takes care of wild flowers. He even takes care of grass. Why wouldn’t he take care of me?

And so the thing is, when we worry, we are telling God, “I don’t trust you to care for my life. I don’t think you’re really in control. I need to worry about these things because my future is unsure. I need to do everything to take care of myself, because I’m not sure you will.”

So there is a truth here - our level of worry about our lives actually indicates how much we really trust God.

Well there’s a teaser. Who are you inviting this weekend? Feel free to let me know and I will pray for you and them by name. Looking forward to seeing you on Sunday!
